    About ATTITUDE

ATTITUDE Pet Products - product bottles

Who Makes ATTITUDE Cleaning Products and Where Are They Produced?

ATTITUDE was cofounded by Jean-François Bernier, a soon-to-be father who wanted to develop safer, cleaner products for his future child and his child’s future.

This Canadian company is based out of Sherbrooke, Quebec. This small city houses ATTITUDE’s own laboratory and manufacturing facility. Doing all research, development, and crafting in-house gives the company unprecedented control over the quality of their products.

It also offers unique opportunities to reduce waste and create the most efficient manufacturing processes possible. Both of these are things ATTITUDE is passionate about.

Which Types of Pets is ATTITUDE Best Suited For?

Since we all share the same planet, investing in environmentally conscious products that are safer for us and the Earth is something we can embrace. Specifically, though, ATTITUDE is a wonderful option for pet owners looking for natural, effective solutions to pet stains, odors, and grooming needs.

All of their products contain only Environmental Working Group verified ingredients that are rated to be nontoxic and safe to use around pets. Their products are also Vegan Certified and PETA Certified. They are not tested on animals and do not contain animal-derived ingredients.

If you have a dog or cat that is especially sensitive to perfumes, dyes, and other chemicals, ATTITUDE is a great option. You can count on their products to be gentle and non-irritating.

    Key Features

ATTITUDE Pet Products - ragz sitting next to the box with the products

ATTITUDE’s pet cleaning products contain a unique blend of natural ingredients, enzymes, and fragrances that make them effective and a pleasure to use. Below, we take a closer look at the key features that set these pet products apart.

All of the ingredients found in ATTITUDE’s Stain & Odor Remover and Fabric Refresher are naturally derived. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t as effective as chemical stain and odor fighters.

The key to the effectiveness of the Stain & Odor Remover is the inclusion of enzymes and non-ionic surfactants. The latter helps break the bond between grime and surfaces to remove stains. Meanwhile, the former breaks down proteins to neutralize odors and prevent repeat soiling.

The Fabric Refresher also contains natural surfactants that help emulsify oils and denature natural soils. This combined with natural mineral deodorizers helps neutralize odors on fabrics. But it’s the addition of a subtle yet persistent lavender scent that really helps to make pet odors disappear.

All the ingredients used in ATTITUDE products are verified by the Environmental Working Group. This means you can trust that everything in these bottles is safe, non-toxic, and gentle on the environment. All ingredients are also vegan and these products are never tested on animals.

ATTITUDE Pet Products - cat sleeping on the couch with fabric refresher product

I can say with all honesty that this was the first carpet cleaner I have ever used that actually had a nice scent to it. Not only that, but those good odor vibes persisted even during cleaning.

There is nothing worse than the smell of a stinky chemical cleaner combined with acrid pet vomit (or worse). But the subtly sweet and perfectly fragrant lavender scent of this carpet cleaner manages to smell pleasant throughout the cleaning process.

The Fabric Refresher also has a very nice lavender scent to it. It is noticeable but not overwhelming. More importantly, it really sticks around. You can smell it on your furniture for days after applying it.

Multiple fragrance ingredients are used in each product. All are derived from natural origins.

One thing I love about these two products is that they are both fairly versatile.

The Stain & Odor Remover works very well on fresh stains as well as set-in stains. It can be used on carpets as well as furniture and clothing. It is even safe to use on white fabric.

The Fabric Refresher is perfect for furniture where your pets like to hang out. It can also be used on pet beds, carpets, cat trees, and more. I like to use mine on the rugs around my litter boxes to help mask the scent of the litter.

Both products are very easy to use. The Fabric Refresher is simply meant to be spritzed over fabric every few days as needed.

The stain remover is meant to be applied where needed, scrubbed, and allowed to sit for one to five minutes. Then all you need to do is blot the area dry to absorb the stain and then let the area air dry.

ATTITUDE Pet Products - fabric refresher spray bottle

I found both of these products to be very effective.

I love the scent of the Fabric Refresher and was very pleased to find that it lasted for days. Unlike other natural and chemical products that mix with foul odors or struggle to mask them, this one really seemed to neutralize the odors while leaving behind a subtle, pleasant scent.

The Stain & Odor Remover worked very well on fresh stains, including bright yellow bile. It was even able to remove some older set-in bile stains from my off-white carpet. It also contains enzymes to break down urine, which helps avoid re-soiling of the same area during potty training.

    Product Reviews

    1. ATTITUDE Stain & Odor Remover

ATTITUDE Pet Products - stain and odor remover spray bottle

The Stain & Odor Remover is a must-have for all pet owners looking for a safer way to keep their homes clean. This highly versatile cleaner is safe to use on carpets, rugs, furniture, clothing, and more. It is gentle enough for white fabrics yet still highly effective at neutralizing odors and removing stains.

The key is in the naturally derived ingredients specifically chosen for their ability to target organic soils and odor-causing bacteria and particles. Compared to other carpet cleaners, this one has a relatively short list of ingredients:

    • caprylyl glucoside

    • myristyl glucoside

    • lauryl glucoside

    • enzymes (amylase)

    • water

    • sapindus mukorossi fruit extract

    • propanediol

    • tetrasodium iminodisuccinate

    • green tea leaf extract

    • calcium chloride

    • sodium benzoate

    • potassium sorbate

    • citric acid

    • fragrance

While not all of these ingredients are easily recognizable, you can feel confident knowing that each of them has been vetted by the EWG. This means they are safe to use around pets and kids. And that they are better cleaning alternatives for the planet.

    • Effective for fresh and dried stains

    • Enzymes to prevent re-soiling

    • Can be used on a variety of surfaces

    • Safe for white fabrics

    • Great scent

    • Easy to use

    • Tough stains may require multiple applications

    • Not safe for fabrics that water spot or for wood

    2. ATTITUDE Fabric Refresher

ATTITUDE Pet Products - fabric refresher bottle

There are two things a great fabric refresher needs: a wonderful scent and the ability to neutralize odors without masking them.

This Fabric Refresher from ATTITUDE has both.

The lavender scent is subtle, floral, and a bit sweet. What it is not is chemically or overpowering. Best of all, you can smell it in the air for hours and on the fabric for days after applying it.

While the fragrance ingredients may get all the attention, it’s the specially tailored list of natural odor neutralizers that really get the work done. These surfactants and minerals denature odors to get rid of them for good.

This product contains a fairly concise list of powerful natural ingredients:

    • caprylyl glucoside

    • myristyl glucoside

    • water

    • zinc ricinoleate

    • propanediol

    • green tea leaf extract

    • tetrasodium iminodisuccinate

    • sodium benzoate

    • potassium sorbate

    • citric acid

    • fragrance

ATTITUDE’s Fabric Refresher can be used on fabrics all around the house, including on pet beds, furniture, clothing, and more.

    • Great lasting scent

    • Destroys odors instead of masking them

    • Easy to use

    • Versatile

    • Not overpowering

    • Only one scent available

    • Bottle can leak/drip

Our Experience With ATTITUDE Pet Products

I am always on the lookout for natural cleaning products that actually work. With a young child and a herd of pets in my house, I try to stay away from chemical cleaners that contain harmful ingredients. That’s why I was so excited to try these products from ATTITUDE.

I have two dogs, a cat, and a parrot in the house. Papyrus, my chihuahua, loves to randomly puke up bile. He’s always done it and, for some reason, he will go out of his way to find a carpet to do it on. My Dalmatian mix, Ragz, loves to get on the furniture, leaving her distinct doggy scent behind.

Armed with the Stain & Odor Remover and Fabric Refresher from ATTITUDE, I set off to see if I could conquer these two issues without having to enlist chemical-laden products to help.

ATTITUDE Pet Products - ragz lying on the carpet with stain and odor remover product

    Stain & Odor Remover

First up, I tried the stain remover on some old yellow stains that my big-name natural cleaner didn’t fully remove. After two applications with the ATTITUDE product, the stain was completely gone.

It had an even easier time getting rid of the fresh bright yellow bile stain Papyrus left for me the next day. It only took one application and hardly any scrubbing to get rid of that one.

I also used it to get mud and food stains off my gray couch and even an oil stain off my shirt.

I’ve found ATTITUDE’s Stain & Odor Remover to be highly effective. Almost just as important, I really like how it smells! Even when cleaning up stinky stains, it maintains a surprisingly pleasant odor, which just makes the whole process a little more enjoyable.

    Fabric Refresher

Since there is no way to keep Ragz off her favorite couch (or bed, or chair) I was eager to see if this Fabric Refresher would help tackle the smell of dog that seems to linger everywhere in my house

It is super easy to apply. Just mist and let dry.

The initial scent is very nice. It is noticeable but not overpowering. After I sprayed the entire couch, the whole main level of my house smelled wonderful for hours.

The smell faded (or I became nose blind to it) after a while. But even for days after, I would smell it again every time I sat on the couch and rustled it up out of the fabric.

I also found this product to be really effective on the rugs around my cat’s litter boxes. It helped cover up the smell of the litter and freshen up the entire space.

This is such a simple, easy product to use to refresh your house and destroy odors. And unlike others I’ve tried, it doesn’t mix with the smell of dog or try to wrestle it into submission. Rather, it seems to get rid of the scent altogether and replace it with something much more pleasant.

ATTITUDE has a long line of cleaning products created to be effective yet safe for your family and the planet. Their line of pet products offers this and so much more.

After trying their Fabric Refresher and Stain & Odor Remover in my own pet-filled house, I highly recommend them to other pet parents.

The Stain & Odor Remover did a wonderful job of removing set-in and fresh pet stains from my off-white carpet and furniture. It is incredibly easy to use and has a pleasant scent that makes it more enjoyable to work with than other products.

The Fabric Refresher combines natural odor eliminators with a wonderful lavender scent to help battle pet odors around the house. I used it on my furniture, around the cat box, and everywhere else my pets like to hang out. The scent filled the room for hours and lasted on the fabric for days.

For natural home cleaners that are better for you, your pet, and the planet, ATTITUDE is a wonderful choice.

How to Groom a Husky: 10 Expert Tips & Advice

Huskies are a stunning dog breed known for their thick, beautiful coats. Did you know that their coats do more than just make Huskies look like the regal dogs they are? It’s true! Their fur keeps them warm in the colder months and, surprisingly, cool in the summer. If you have a Husky, you must know how to care for your dog’s coat to not only keep it looking its best but to ensure it can perform its job of regulating your pup’s temperature.

Read on to find our grooming tips for Huskies.

Top 10 Tips on How to Groom a Husky

    1. Gather Your Grooming Supplies

You’ll need to have a few essential grooming supplies on hand to tackle your Husky’s coat.

    These include:
    • An undercoat rake to get down to your pup’s loose undercoat hairs

    • A slicker brush to pull dead hairs from his outer coat and detangle mats

    • A high-quality vacuum to deal with the hairy mess you’ll have post-groom

    • An organic dog shampoo to nourish the skin and coat

    • Soft towels that absorb water well for the drying process

    • A small pair of scissors to tackle the hairs between the nails

    • A set of nail clippers to clip the nails

    • Delicious dog treats to reward a job well done

    2. Perform a Pre-Bath Brushing

Give him a good brush before you think about getting your pup wet. This can help get his coat cleaner while removing tangles and loose hairs. Brushing a wet undercoat is very difficult. Do a few passes over his coat with your undercoat rake first, then follow up with the slicker brush.

    3. Bathe Your Pup

Huskies don’t usually need more than two or three baths yearly as they don’t have very oily coats. This means they don’t have that stereotypical dog odor sometimes associated with other dog breeds. So baths should be infrequent unless they’re particularly dirty or dealing with fleas. Approach bath times cautiously, as bathing too often can cause fur and skin to dry out.

    To bathe your Husky:
    • Run warm water in your bathtub, then place your dog in.

    • Wet his coat with warm water, but avoid the ears and eyes. You must tilt his head to ensure you don’t get water in these areas. Wet him thoroughly, as the undercoat requires a lot of water.

    • Apply your organic dog shampoo to your pup’s wet coat in circles. Don’t scrub too hard.

    • Using your shower head, rinse off the shampoo. You may need to repeat this step several times until all the suds are removed from your pup’s dense coat.

    • Let the water out of the tub and start drying off your dog with the soft towels. If your dog tolerates it, you can use a blow dryer to expedite the process. Dry him as much as he allows you to so the coat won’t get dirty when he leaves the bathroom.

Pro Tip: We highly recommend placing a screen over your bathtub drain to catch the loose hair before it goes down into your plumbing. Failure to do so will 100% lead to the worst hair clog you’ve seen in your life.

    4. Give Him a Post Bath Brush

Now that your Husky is fresh, clean, and completely dry, it’s time to brush his coat…yes, again. This time, you’ll need to take your time and ensure you’re doing it right. Use the undercoat rake all over his coat. Please use caution when using this tool and ensure you’re not putting too much pressure on it so you don’t injure the skin. Be extra careful when working around areas where your dog’s skin is thin, such as in the hock area, flank, and armpits.

After you’re finished with the undercoat rake, do several passes over the entire coat with the slicker brush. Be thorough, as this is the last brush. Your goal is to remove all the remaining loose hair from your Husky’s coat.

    5. Trim the In-Between Toe Hairs

Now, let’s focus our attention on your Husky’s toe hairs. You shouldn’t allow the hairs between his toes to grow too long, as it can cause his joints to be out of alignment and may result in permanent joint, ligament, or tendon damage.

Using small scissors, level the hair with the toes so your pup won’t walk on it when he’s out for walks.

    6. Clip the Toenails

No groom is complete without paying attention to your pup’s toenails. However, this is a delicate job that requires a keen eye, so if you’re not 100% confident in your toenail clipping skills, we recommend leaving it to the professionals.

To clip the nails, look for the “quick” which will appear pink. You’ll want to trim the nail no closer than two millimeters from the quick. It’s helpful to watch a groomer or veterinarian do this for the first time and even allow them to show you the ropes. If you cut too close to the quick, it will bleed and can be quite painful for your dog since it is a nerve.

    7. Prepare for Your Husky’s Natural Sheds

You should expect your pup to shed his entire coat (AKA “blow his coat”) at least once yearly. The process can take several weeks, but you’ll know when it’s happening. You’ll want to keep your vacuum on hand during this season to keep up with the shedding and brush his coat to encourage strong re-growth.

    8. Uses a Shedding Brush Weekly

Use a shedding brush once weekly to keep up with your pup’s shedding and encourage his coat to look its best. Use the shedding brush in swift, side-to-side motions all over his coat. We recommend having an extra set of hands nearby to operate a vacuum during this process. This will prevent your dog’s hair from flying all over your entire home and keep it out of places you don’t want it (e.g., furniture, bedding, etc.).

    9. Start Young

Our best piece of advice for any Husky owner looking for tips on grooming their pup is to get him acclimated to the process from a young age. Brushing your dog when he is a puppy allows him to learn to relax and enjoy it.

    10. Uses High-Value Rewards

Nothing says “good job” quite like a tasty high-value reward. You may need to do some trial and error to find a treat your Husky goes wild for, but once you know what it is, reserve those treats for post-groom congratulations. This will encourage your pup to sit well for you and make your grooming job much easier.

Should I Cut My Huskie’s Hair Short?

Generally speaking, heavy double-coated breeds like Huskies shouldn’t be shaved or have their coat cut short.

Many well-meaning owners will shave their pups during the summer as they think it’ll keep them cooler during the hot months, but this isn’t how it works. Shaving a Husky can harm their coat and may make them prone to sunburn as they have almost no pigmentation in their skin. Shaving will expose your Husky’s very sensitive skin to harmful sunlight and may make him vulnerable to several skin issues, including skin cancer.

Though it may sound counterintuitive, a Husky’s thick coat will keep them cool in the summer. Their undercoat is naturally thinner during the warmer months, so it can trap a layer of cool air to protect your pup from overheating and sunburn, too.

    Final Thoughts

Though this sounds overwhelming, Huskies are relatively low-maintenance dogs. Weekly brushings are all you’ll need to stay on top of shedding. Of course, you’ll want to give him a good full groom once or twice a year that includes pre- and post-bath brushings and a bath, but other than that, a once-weekly groom session should be more than enough. However, we recommend investing in a high-quality vacuum cleaner as that will make your life much easier during the shedding season.
