What Is Bully Bed Orthopedic, Washable & Waterproof Big Dog Beds? How Does It Work?

For dog owners searching for a thick, supportive bed large enough for any dog of any size, this is the bed for you. The focus of this bed is thick, firm memory foam to support the joints of even the largest dogs so they can rest comfortably.

While the height of the bed may be an issue for dogs with significant joint impairment already, it compensates for this with no taller sides to make it over, just an elevated head rest on one side. Once settled into the bed, dogs are able to sprawl however they wish without feeling the ground beneath them.

Available in three colors, the bed also features two covers, one waterproof layer then covered with the colored microfiber washable cover. Ready to handle any drooling the large breed dogs this bed caters to bring to nap time, this also works well for urinary and fecal incontinence or GI upset unfortunately not uncommon in senior dogs.

Bully Bed Orthopedic, Washable & Waterproof Big Dog Beds: A Quick Look

  • Size range allows even the largest of dogs to sprawl while still fully supported

  • Easy to clean and maintain

  • Arrives ready to go besides allowing the foam to inflate

  • Multiple color options

  • Emphasis on safe materials

  • Height of the bed may be a concern for dogs with mobility concerns

Bully Bed Orthopedic, Washable & Waterproof Big Dog Beds Contents

  • Two layer cover (waterproof then machine washable)

  • Thick, high quality memory foam free of several common, but problematic, chemicals

  • Heavy duty zipper for covers

  • Non-slip base

  • 20-year no-flat guarantee

  • Perfect for large and giant breed dogs

  • Four size options

  • Three color options

Well-Designed and Durable

The draw of this large and supportive bed wasn’t that I have a large breed dog but instead three co-dependent medium sized, aging dogs. From the moment the bed hit the floor they were excited to test the weight limits of the bed, piling on together.

Having used the large size bed, the 7-inch thick foam did a great job supporting the dogs with only just enough dip to keep their angles comfortable, no more. I have one dog who is a super chewer but with no obvious edges worth chewing and the zippers hidden under a zipper liner/cover, she never even tried to ruin the party.

One of my other dogs, who was a professional parkour enthusiast in another lifetime, did not succeed in sliding this bed clear across the room in a single bound as she has all our other dog beds thanks to the no-slip base, which her sisters were grateful for.

Good Color and Size Variety

With four size options and three color options, there’s a version of this bed for everyone. While Bully Beds emphasizes the use of this bed for large breed dogs, I can’t imagine a dog of any size would dislike this bed. The smallest bed option, the medium, even has a shorter foam base at four inches so those dogs don’t have a hard job climbing in. It’s great for any dog that needs dependable joint support in their dog bed over time and homes with giant dogs that have trouble finding beds elsewhere, or multi-pet households that like to pile in together.

While I do think a bit more customization or color options wouldn’t be a bad idea, the colors available are diverse enough to meet most needs. The size of this bed will make it a statement piece in any room it’s in, so some more color and design options for the washable cover would be a good idea for people who want something more vibrant.

However, the darker neutral colors do have advantages. I chose the chocolate color, which does a great job not looking dirty quickly (a bonus for people who have dogs who like to get a bit messy!)

Excellent Quality of Materials

Bully Beds designates the foam for this bed as “non-hazardous” with an extensive list of things it doesn’t contain, to give you peace of mind.

There was no chemical smell to the bed, no loose threads, or frayed areas. The covers are easy enough to remove besides having to tip a giant lump of foam around and so I was impressed with the quality of the design and materials.

The choices for each layer communicate intention, all feeling high quality and working well. The waterproof layer underwent a spill test and passed with flying colors and the bed doesn’t have chemical smelling, crinkly material that will drive you crazy every time your dog moves.

Is Bully Bed Orthopedic, Washable & Waterproof Big Dog Beds a Good Value?

Yes! With the large size of the bed currently sitting at $229.99, discounted from the normal price of $299.99, the cost of this bed is an investment. While not the cheapest dog bed you can find, I don’t consider it too bad for this size. Dog owners with large or giant breed dogs will understand how high the cost is to find beds of their size.

Bully Beds does a great job of making that price tag worth it. The foam is not collapsing under my dog’s weight. This bed can follow through on providing a comforting, humane place for large, old dogs to get some rest and relief from their aches and pains.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I wash this dog bed?

While the whole bed cannot fit in a washing machine, it has a waterproof cover that is then covered by a thin but soft washable cover. Unzipping the outer layer, it can be thrown in the wash like normal with any other laundry, and the waterproof layer can be wiped down as needed.

Does this bed come with a warranty?

The most important feature of this bed is that it has thick, sturdy foam that is comfortable to lay on but doesn’t collapse enough that a pet would feel the hard ground beneath them. While all foam collapses slowly over time, becoming less comfortable, Bully Beds maintains a 20 year no-flat guarantee on all their beds, so you can feel confident your dog will always have a comfortable place to lay.

Our Experience With Bully Bed Orthopedic, Washable & Waterproof Big Dog Beds

My dogs were fans of this bed immediately before the foam had even inflated fully. It features a head rest though they didn’t seem to understand its purpose, instead often using it as a backrest to sprawl across.

None of my dogs are incontinent so I tested the waterproofness of the internal cover with a glass of water. It never penetrated the waterproof layer even after soaking through the microfiber.

Removing the covers is easy enough if you’re comfortable manipulating the weight of the bed. Since my three dogs tend to use things together, smell can accumulate quickly, so the ability to easily get this washed weekly is important to me and my sensitive nose.

At no point has the foam become flat in any areas and it doesn’t collapse completely even when they’re standing on it. Thanks to a combination of the size, weight, and non-slip base of the microfiber cover, the bed stays exactly where I want it to even with multiple dogs running around.

I do live in a small house so this bed takes up a decent chunk of real estate in my living room now, but since it keeps the dogs from continuing to abuse my couch so much and helps my aging girls get some good sleep, I can’t fault it needing to be big to do its job.

Conclusion

Multiple design elements allow the Bully Bed Orthopedic, Washable & Waterproof Big Dog Beds to shine as an option for large breed or aging dogs. I expect it to last a long time despite heavy use by three knucklehead dogs. I’m excited about how easy it is to clean for my own sanity and love the large size for the kiddos. There’s no need for them to settle in any one position to fit with it being as large as it is (and there are two sizes larger than mine!). We’re one very happy, more comfortable family now.

What Is Noxgear LightHound LED Dog Harness? How Does It Work?

The Noxgear LightHound harness is a high-quality harness that’s designed to keep up with all sorts of outdoor activities for dogs. You can certainly use it as a standard harness for regular walks, but its performance really shines when it’s used in intensive activities that athletic dogs and hunting dogs engage in. The harness can also perform well in sub-zero winter temperatures.

One of the main highlights of the LightHound harness is its light housing. This light housing has patented technology that ensures the light remains bright after continued use and even when the battery is low. It comes with various color options and flashing patterns with designs backed by scientific research for maximum visibility in low light.

Before purchasing the Noxgear LightHound harness, there are some minor disadvantages to consider. While it’s a high-performance harness that fits most dogs, it may not be the best option for dogs still undergoing leash training. It can withstand heavy pulling, but it doesn’t have a no-pull design feature. Also, the main body of the harness is lightweight and breathable, but the light housing can feel a little bulky and strange for dogs not used to wearing a harness. So, it can take a little time for dogs to acclimate to wearing this harness if they usually wear a collar and haven’t worn a harness before.

I won’t ignore the fact that the Noxgear LightHound harness is a premium harness that’s more expensive than other heavy-duty harnesses. I tested out the Noxgear LightHound harness on my own dog to see if it was worth the investment. This honest review will give you all the information you need to determine if the Noxgear LightHound harness is a good fit for your own dog.

Noxgear LightHound LED Dog Harness Pricing

The Noxgear LightHound harness is priced at $77.90 at the time of writing. All the different sizes share the same price. Noxgear does offer promotional discounts from time to time so that you can save on costs. You may also find minor price changes by purchasing the harness from different retailers. However, when you purchase the harness through Noxgear’s website, shipping is free.

What to Expect from Noxgear LightHound LED Dog Harness

The Noxgear LightHound harness comes in four different sizes, and all the harness sizes are highly adjustable. You can purchase the harness directly from Noxgear’s website, and it’s delivered within the standard shipping time frame. The LightHound harness comes with a micro-USB charging cable for the light housing and an instruction booklet that gives you thorough information on how to maximize your use of the harness.

The light housing lasts for 12 hours after being fully charged. It’s attached to the harness with a thumbscrew, but you can easily unscrew it and remove it from the harness if you plan to take your dog out for water activities. Your dog will remain visible because of the reflective straps running along the entire harness.

High-Quality Design

The LightHound harness has a thoughtful design that’s made to keep up with active, outdoorsy dogs. Many heavy-duty harnesses have a bulky, uncomfortable design, but this isn’t the case with the LightHound harness. Its base material is made from a single piece of Cordura nylon fabric. This type of fabric is durable while being extremely lightweight and breathable.

The harness is lined with 3M Scotchlite reflective material that’s reinforced with high-strength stitching. The leash loop is also attached with the same stitching and runs along the entire harness for extra security. When you light up the harness, the light is visible from all angles. This makes your dog highly visible from a distance, and you won’t lose sight of them.

Visibility Options

One of the highlights of the LightHound harness is the light housing. It has a battery life of 12 hours before requiring recharging, and the light can be seen from about a quarter mile away. The light housing also has four arms that slide into all four straps of the harness, and the light travels through the entire length of the harness straps. This design illuminates the entire harness and completely surrounds your dog’s body with light.

The light housing also provides multiple color options. You can choose from eight different solid color modes. If you’re looking for even more visibility and something more eye-catching, you can choose from six different multi-color flashing modes.

Easy and Convenient to Use

Both the neck strap and chest strap have a wide range of adjustability, so it’s easy to ensure that the harness fits around your dog securely. The straps also have additional Velcro straps so that you can safely tuck loose ends and protect your dog from tripping over them. The light housing is reinforced with a thumbscrew for added stability, but you can easily remove it when it’s time to wash the harness. The harness is machine-washable and air dries quickly so that it’s ready to use on your next outdoor adventure with your dog.

Not for Dogs Learning Leash Training

Something to consider about the LightHound harness is that it’s slightly bulkier than regular harnesses when you insert the light housing. It also doesn’t have a leash ring in the front, so it doesn’t work as a no-pull harness. While the harness can withstand heavy pulling, it’s not specifically designed to aid in leash training.

With that being said, it may take some time for puppies to get used to wearing this harness, especially if they haven’t had much experience wearing a harness. Fortunately, you can remove the light housing from the body of the harness and get your young puppy used to wearing just the harness before adding on the light housing.

Is Noxgear LightHound LED Dog Harness a Good Value?

There’s no denying that the Noxgear LightHound harness is more expensive than other heavy-duty harnesses specifically designed for intensive outdoor use. However, the high-quality design and safety features of the harness make it worth the price. It has a superior design and can outlast many other harnesses. It’s designed to perform in extreme weather and keep up with search and rescue dogs and hunting dogs. While the light housing isn’t waterproof, your dog can still swim while wearing just the base of the harness. Even if you remove the light housing, your dog will remain visible because of the 3M Scotchlite reflective lining.

Our Experience With Noxgear LightHound LED Dog Harness

I tested out the Noxgear LightHound harness on my 20-pound Cavapoo. She’s a fairly active and energetic dog and is trained to walk on a front clip dog harness. Since she’s used to wearing a harness, I had no issue with getting her to wear the LightHound harness, and she wasn’t fazed at all by the light housing. What I loved about the light housing was that it was very bright and visible to me, and it was perfectly positioned so that the light wasn’t disruptive to my dog. She didn’t seem to mind the bright light at all.

I live in an area where the sidewalk is very close to the road, so the LightHound harness provided added safety and visibility during evening walks. We also have a lot of wild animals that tend to make bold appearances in the summertime, so it was reassuring to know exactly where my dog was whenever she was running around our yard in the evening.

I also like to go on runs with my dog, and the LightHound harness performed really well. The light housing stayed securely in place for the entirety of our runs, and it was nice to have added visibility that alerted other runners and bikers sharing the trail.

I only experienced two minor issues with the LightHound harness. I do wish that the LightHound harness had a front clip. However, I was able to resolve this issue by having my dog wear her regular harness and the LightHound harness on top of it. The material of the LightHound harness is very light and breathable, and doubling up didn’t cause any discomfort for my dog.

The light housing also does take a long time to charge fully. So, it’s important to remember to charge the battery after every couple of uses. Fortunately, the battery lasts a while, so I was able to turn on the light housing and go on a brisk walk with my dog, even with a low battery.

Conclusion

Overall, I had a very positive experience with the Noxgear LightHound harness. It does take a while to charge fully, but it also has a long battery life, and the light housing will stay bright even with a low battery. The best thing about this harness is the feeling of safety and security when going on walks or being outside with your dog in low-light settings. I would highly recommend this harness to anyone who enjoys participating in outdoor activities with their dogs.

What Is Maxbone’s Deep Cleanse Shampoo Dispensing Brush? How Does It Work?

This aptly named product seeks to simplify bath time for you and your pet. Gone are the days of trying to hold and squeeze shampoo bottles with wet, soapy hands while also trying to keep your pet from jumping out of the tub and soaking you in an escape attempt.

maxbone deep cleanse shampoo dispensing brush

A Breakdown of the Features

The Compartment: Maxbone’s Deep Cleanse Shampoo Dispensing Brush can hold enough shampoo in the storage compartment for any size pet. The sides of this storage compartment are clear, so you can monitor the shampoo level as you use it. The wide opening allows for easy filling, and a soft silicone bubble nests inside a twist top to close the compartment when you’re done.

You will note a crosshatch at the bottom of the compartment that allows a controllable stream of shampoo to exit when you press the bubble at the top. The shampoo then travels past the silicone bristles of the brush and onto your pet or hand.

The Dispenser: The dispensing bubble at the top is incredibly easy to use. By choosing such a wide seat for the opening and, therefore, the bubble, you can catch it even with just the tip of a finger, which is useful as you’ll find yourself holding the product in various positions throughout bath time. I say “bubble” instead of “button” because the silicone is so soft and thin and easy to press into.

The Twist Top Rim: The twist top rim around the base of the bubble that anchors it to the rest of the product has small, raised ridges for traction to help you hold the dispensing brush while you’re using it. I will say due to the smooth plastic feel of this and the minor profile of these ridges, once your hands are wet and soapy, you won’t find much help here holding the product, but it’s still definitely a step up from trying to flip a shampoo bottle upside down.

Silicone Bristles: When using the Deep Cleanse Shampoo Dispensing Brush, tall, thick, but bendable silicone bristles line the entire bottom aspect, which allows you to rub in the shampoo you’re dispensing with the brush instead of needing to use your hands. Despite feeling easily bendable in your hands, you will find that they remain fully straight for the most part during use unless you exert extra force.

Maxbone offers multiple shampoo options you can pair with the brush, such as their Calming Shampoo, which is at its best with a thoroughly dispersing and exfoliating brush like this one.

By combining all these features, Maxbone has really applied their luxury take on pet supplies to create a super useful and gorgeous marriage of form and function tool.

Maxbone’s Deep Cleanse Shampoo Dispensing Brush – A Quick Look

Pros
  • Fits any hand size

  • Holds enough shampoo to bathe any pet

  • Firm but moveable bristles provide good exfoliation

  • Easy to use and clean

Cons
  • Shape of the product doesn’t feel natural to hold onto in use, especially wet

  • Tall bristle profile is better for longer and thicker coated animals

  • Bristles may be too firm for sensitive pets, young pets, cats

Maxbone’s Deep Cleanse Shampoo Dispensing Brush Pricing

At $14, the Deep Cleanse Shampoo Dispensing Brush is one of Maxbone’s cheapest available products, but that doesn’t mean they neglected its quality or looks. I think this is easily one of their most valuable products considering what you get for what you spend, and I find it well worth the $14 price tag.

What to Expect From Maxbone’s Deep Cleanse Shampoo Dispensing Brush

My Deep Cleanse Shampoo Dispensing Brush arrived within a couple of days of placing my order. The box was crushed in one corner, but everything in the box was intact and packed efficiently. Every inch of the box was used appropriately, and I appreciated not receiving a box with a wasteful amount of shipping supplies involved.

Deep Cleanse Shampoo Dispensing Brush Overall Quality

For a product with over thirty long, bendable silicone pieces, I was prepared to make allowances for how long this product would likely hold up. Once using it, though, I’m honestly not sure any specific part of this product would ever break with proper at-home use. All the materials feel good in your hand and hold up well.

Every aspect of the Deep Cleanse Shampoo Dispensing Brush has design elements that are perfect for their use, such as the wide set of the filling top/bubble, the clear sides of the storage compartment, and the arrangement of the brush bristles.

Soft But Sturdy Brush Materials

Any moveable features of this dispensing brush are soft-feel silicone, which I really liked. The base of the brush, storage compartment, and twist-on rim that holds the dispensing bubble in place are hard plastic with raised edges and dots in strategic spots to help you hold onto the brush while it’s wet.

I liked the choices for each though you will still find your hand slipping while holding the brush a bit since the shape doesn’t match your hand. This is never enough to send it flying from your hand in use, though.

Only One Style and Color Available

The Deep Cleanse Shampoo Dispensing Brush comes in one size and one color. I have three dogs, each about knee height, each with slightly longer/thicker hair coats and about 5–10 pounds more muscle/beefier than the next, so they range from a very short coat with delicate features to a longer, thicker, though not double coat with a stockier build.

When I tried this dispensing brush on all three of them, I found that my biggest girl, with her thicker coat, was the easiest to use it on. The amount I could massage her with the bristles was perfect, and I didn’t feel too far above her skin on the long bristles. The tension from the hair also allowed for an easier time holding the product.

On my delicate girl, I wished the bristles were shorter or softer as it suited her coat better and made it easier to hold. I would probably hesitate to use this size of the product on a smaller pet, so I wish it came in a couple of size options. My largest girl also requires a special shampoo for baths, so while I tried a new shampoo for the other girls, also sold by Maxbone, I switched to my normal shampoo for my largest dog.

It would have been nice to have two sets of the brush in different colors to identify which held which shampoo. Switching out shampoos was very easy, though, and I was able to trial shampoos of two different viscosities through the brush, and it worked great for both.

Is Maxbone’s Deep Cleanse Shampoo Dispensing Brush a Good Value?

I think this product is a great value. If you can even find a slightly cheaper version of this dispensing brush through another company, every aspect of this brush is so well designed that even without checking other options, I can confidently say that this will hold up better, feel better, and work better than whatever you could find cheaper. With such a low price tag, I wouldn’t hesitate to consider this worth its cost.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Would this dispensing brush work with any shampoo?

I found the Deep Cleansing Shampoo Dispensing Brush would work with any pet shampoo I’ve encountered and many pet conditioners as well. I specifically tried Maxbone’s Calming Shampoo, which worked perfectly with the brush and soothed my allergy dogs’ skin, and thicker medicated shampoo, which also had no issues with dispensing.

Is the Deep Cleansing Shampoo Dispensing Brush safe to use on my pet?

While I do think the firmness of the bristles might not be as comfortable on the thin skin of small animals such as puppies and cats, it is definitely still safe.

Do Maxbone products take a long time to arrive?

Maxbone’s website claims they have an estimated shipping and delivery time of 2–5 business days. I found this correct, with a turnaround time from order to arrival of only 3 days.

Can I return the Deep Cleansing Shampoo Dispensing Brush?

Maxbone’s return policy does not allow for returns on grooming products, but this should provide you with the peace of mind that your brush has never been exposed to all-too-common pet parasites and skin infections from another animal.

My Experience With Maxbone’s Deep Cleanse Shampoo Dispensing Brush

I was very happy with my experience with the Deep Cleanse Shampoo Dispensing Brush. I was impressed by the quality of the design and materials used. My three dogs all enjoyed the sensation of the brush, and my youngest, who can be quite anxious about bath time, was far calmer than usual, in part due to enjoying the massage of the brush.

You can imagine a wash day with three dogs is an undertaking, but by combining steps in using this dispensing brush, I shaved almost a full hour off my average total bathing time across the three dogs, which my back was particularly thrilled about.

The brush is possibly larger than you think. I have relatively small hands, so this might not present a problem for all users, but since my fingers couldn’t reach all the way to the bristle base with its traction bumps from over the top of the dispenser or around the edges from the side, I found holding the brush did feel more awkward than I expeted.

My largest dog, with her thick coat, allowed me to lean into the scrubbing. But for my girls with shorter coats, I found this lack of perfect hand-holding position inhibited how well I could scrub into their coats with the brush, and since the bristles were so tall, there were moments I was worried about effectiveness also.

I still got through their baths faster than usual, the soap was well distributed and rinsed out very easily, and they seemed to like the feel, so it all worked out. However, I wish the brush came with options for lower profile bristles or softer ones that will bend easier, or maybe a smaller shampoo storage compartment as less height here might be easier to handle.

With how easy this product is to use and how much it helps solve several dilemmas of bath time, I would recommend it without hesitation to anyone with at least a medium-sized dog or larger.

Conclusion

The Deep Cleanse Shampoo Dispensing Brush from Maxbone is a required part of doggy bath time in my household now. It combines dispensing of shampoo with relaxing and effective washing to simplify your dog’s bathing routine. Easier and quicker baths that don’t sacrifice quality or efficacy are appreciated by everyone involved.

With my busy schedule, this dispensing brush allows me to stay on track with my dogs’ baths and provides them something to look forward to since they enjoy the feel of the brush. I look forward to adapting to holding this brush as I get used to it and will eagerly try out other varieties in the future if they are ever developed.
