Unleash Your HOWND Review 2023: Our Vet’s Opinion

Our Final Verdict

We give Unleash Your HOWND a rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars.

When there are literally hundreds of different dog shampoos out there, it can be pretty daunting to know which one is going to be best for you and your dog. When I’m looking to try something new, the main things I want to know are:

  • Does it smell nice?

  • Is it easy to use?

  • Is it safe?

  • Is it expensive?

  • Is it cruelty free?

HOWND is a relative newcomer to the dog grooming market, and since their inception, they have branched out into food as well. Boasting planet friendly, ethically produced, cruelty free, vegan products, this company prioritizes product quality and ethical standards.

With this in mind, you might assume that HOWND will have a price tag to match, but they are actually sitting in the middle of the pack in terms of retail price. In addition to this, the products we tried smelled amazing, are very safe, and super easy to use.

  • There are a number of different varieties in the HOWND range of conditioning shampoos and body mists. None of the products are medicated, nor do they make any claim to be, but they do address a few common canine complaints:

    • Yup You Stink! for extra smelly situations

    • Keep Calm to help strengthen the coat, reduce shedding, and soothe your dog

    • Got An Itch? to improve the coat condition of dogs with dry, flakey, itchy skin

    • Playful Pup for pups over 8 weeks old, or adults with sensitive skin

Being that I have bigger dogs that are obsessed with rolling in fox poo, and two teeny chihuahuas less than 12 months old, I tried these products and was delighted with both.

    About HOWND

hownd conditioning shampoo and body mist

Who Makes HOWND and Where Is It Produced?

HOWND products are manufactured in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, by Power Pet Brands Ltd, trading as HOWND. The company was founded in 2020 by Jo Amit and Marc Hirschel, with the following mission statement:

“We began by making the best grooming products on the market: the most ethically certified, adopted and loved by professionals. We’ve never deviated from these early principles and never will.”

Their products are designed to promote:

“Healthy skin, healthy weight, healthy joints. Shiny coats, happy tummies and lots of energy: unleashing the power of dogs to live up to their full canine potential.”

At present, the majority of their business is trade based, with around 250-300 dog groomers in the UK using their shampoos and body mists. There are only a handful of shops in the UK stocking their products, so most of their retail market is internet based.

Who Is HOWND Best Suited For?

HOWND was founded by people who wanted to make good quality products that are completely cruelty free and vegan, which is going to appeal to anyone wanting to use a product that uses ethically sourced ingredients with a reasonable price point.

The appearance of the bottles strikes a nice balance between cutesy/tacky and plain/clinical. If they were human products, they wouldn’t look out of place at a day spa; they look expensive, but they’re not.

The grooming products made by HOWND would suit just about any dog, apart from those with specific sensitivities or skin conditions. The one and only criticism I could make about HOWND is that there is no caution on the labeling with regards to speaking to your vet first if your dog has a skin problem, or not using on broken, inflamed or infected skin.

    Quality

I want to come back to my list of main concerns when choosing a shampoo for my dog. In fact, this list largely applies to purchasing products for myself too! Let’s take a look at the Yup You Stink Conditioning Shampoo, and Playful Pup Body Mist, and see how they measure up to my list of demands.

    In Summary

    Pros
    • Good price for this level of quality

    • Cruelty free and vegan

    • Great smell

    • Non-irritant

    • Does what it says on the box

Reviewing the Most Popular HOWND Products

Let’s take a look at two of the most popular HOWND products: their conditioning shampoo and body mist

    1. Yup You Stink Conditioning Shampoo Reviewed

    yup you stink conditioning shampoo

    Does It Smell Nice?

Definitely. I was a bit skeptical about the Eucalyptus & Cedarwood, but the combination is really lovely, without being overpowering. I would quite happily use it on myself!

    Is It Easy to Use?

Yes. Personally, I hate pump dispensers, so I was thrilled that the bottle didn’t have one! There’s a cap covering the top of the bottle which is great for avoiding spills if you haven’t closed the lid properly! The actual lid is the rocking type, so there’s nothing to unscrew or easily lose. The bottles are just soft enough to make it easy to dispense the shampoo, so even people with arthritic hands or dexterity issues should find it easy to use.

chihuahua dog and hownd conditioning shampoo

    Is It Safe?

Yes. The first point to address here is the use of essential oils, which in undiluted form, can be harmful to dogs when ingested, inhaled, and applied to the skin. However, the dilutions used in these products are just enough to produce a pleasant smell, and not at levels that will cause harm.

In fact, when compared with some other dog shampoos, the warning of “Caution around the eyes & nostrils. If in eyes, rinse with warm water” indicates that this shampoo presents much less of a safety risk than some other dog shampoo brands that have half their label taken up by a safety warning!

A complete listing of the ingredients can be found here.

    Is It Expensive?

No. Retailing at around £9/US$11 for a 250ml bottle, HOWND sits somewhere in the middle of the pack in terms of price, and a little goes a long way.

    Is It Cruelty Free?

Yes. HOWND products are certified cruelty free and vegan.

    2. Playful Pup Refreshing Body Mist Reviewed

dog with playful pup body mist bottle

    Does It Smell Nice?

Yes. The zestiness of the lemongrass contrasts really nicely with the rose, and again, the scent is not overpowering.

    Is It Easy to Use?

Yes. Like the shampoo, there is a cap covering the top of the bottle, with a second, smaller cap covering the spray pump. These features suggest that they were designed by people who have actually used these sorts of products, and know what works.

    Is It Safe?

Yes. There is the obvious instruction to avoid the face when applying, but otherwise, the points mentioned with the shampoo all apply here.

A complete listing of the ingredients can be found here.

    Is It Expensive?

No. Just like the shampoo, the body mist costs around £9/US$11 for a 250ml bottle, and a little really goes a long way.

    Is It Cruelty Free?

Yes. HOWND products are certified cruelty free and vegan.

Our Experience with HOWND Body Mist & Conditioning Shampoo

dog posing next to hownd conditioning shampoo and body mist bottles

I have to be honest here; I hadn’t heard of HOWND before using these products, but I will definitely be using (and recommending) them in future.

My parcel arrived by Royal Mail the day after ordering, in simple, no-nonsense packaging with plenty of recycled cardboard protecting the bottles. What I immediately liked was the clear outer cap that covered the top of the bottles, meaning that any spills and leakages, which inevitably happen in my house, would be contained in the outer cap – no more sticky bottles! The cap also seemed to be a source of great amusement to Fred, the chihuahua.

The second thing to catch my eye were the Vegan Approved and Cruelty Free leaping bunny labels, displayed on the front of the bottles, and in fact, HOWND has endorsements from:

The scent of the shampoo is really lovely, and not what you would expect from Eucalyptus & Cedarwood. It smells clean and fresh, but not perfumey or like baby powder, and based on the interest shown by my ever-curious duo, Ned and Fred, it didn’t smell too bad to them either!

Initially, I tried the body mist on my Shepherd/Malinois, Kodah, to get an idea of what difference it might make to his dull coat, and was pleasantly surprised. The only downside was that Kodah was really suspicious of the spray bottle, but I think this was more to do with his personality than the product itself. He smelt lovely and his coat was a lot shinier and felt softer, not at all greasy.

The mist is a great option for those who want to give their dog that “just shampooed” look and feel, without the faff, or extend the smell after a shampoo. It works really nicely when you’re giving your dog’s coat a good brushing out as it helps reduce the amount of fur flying around. Although Kodah’s coat is too short to worry about knots, the silky texture it creates would undoubtedly make detangling hair a lot easier.

The following day was sunny, so we headed outside to the garden for a bath day. What I was most worried about was whether the shampoo might cause irritation for the tiny chihuahuas, especially if I managed to get any in their bulgy little eyes! Fortunately, I needn’t have worried. Despite a few suds landing on Fred’s face, there were no signs of redness or irritation. The shampoo lathered up nicely, but also rinsed off easily; there’s nothing worse than having to spend ages getting all the shampoo off!

Whilst the dynamic duo were drying off in the sunshine, it was time to tackle Kodah, who can be a bit funny about different smells. Once he stopped trying to eat the hose, he seemed to really enjoy being lathered up, and made no attempts to get away, which he does if he doesn’t like something.

Again, even though it felt really thick and luxurious going on, the shampoo lathered nicely and rinsed off easily. Once he was dry, Kodah looked and smelled amazing! And the pleasant smell lasted well into the following week, which was very impressive.

I will absolutely use the body mist regularly, and based on how well all the dogs did with the shampoo, would have no hesitation using any of the other types on the tiny chihuahuas, even on Fred, who is only 8 months old.

With the mist, it’s really handy to have something easy to give the dogs a quick spruce up before guests come round, when they don’t need a full on bath. For the price, I’d be happy to keep one bottle at home, one in the car.

    Conclusion

The HOWND shampoos and body mists do what they claim to, and don’t cost the earth. I like that they don’t pretend to be something they’re not, when a lot of pet shampoos claim to be antibacterial with absolutely no antimicrobial activity, or effective against fleas & ticks without any ingredients that would achieve that. The ingredients that HOWND uses are effective enough to give your dog a proper clean and leave them smelling fresh and feeling soft, but are also mild enough to be used frequently if needed.

Being a conditioning shampoo means that it shouldn’t cause flakey skin, and you also don’t need to purchase a separate conditioner. Quite frankly, if I was in a shampoo-deficient emergency, I would quite happily use it on my own hair.

Dr. Brite Pet Pure Products Review 2023: Pros, Cons, & Verdict

    Our Final Verdict

We give Dr. Brite Pet Pure Products a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Dr. Brite is a personal care company dedicated to creating safe, non-toxic products for the entire family. Their Pure Pet line features a handful of dental and coat products created without harmful chemicals and inflammatory ingredients that are safe for cats and dogs.

If you find yourself scouring ingredient labels before you buy anything, Dr. Brite is a company you’re going to love. They go beyond even what your typical “all-natural” companies do to ensure their products are safer for your pet. But do keep in mind, these ethical products are a little pricier than your typical dog toothpaste and grooming supplies.

I had a chance to try three Dr. Brite Pure Pet products on my dogs, Ragz and Papyrus, and the newest member of our family, Makoa the kitten.

Since both of my dogs are getting older, and one has terrible teeth, I was very happy to find that the anti-plaque pen and oral cleansing spray helped improve their dental health while making their teeth cleaning routine easier. And the cleansing wipes were a surprise lifesaver on more than one occasion.

Find out why I believe these products are worth the buy and where I see room for improvement in my full product review, below.

About Dr. Brite Pure Pet Products

Dr. Brite was founded by two sisters, a doctor and a dentist. The ingredients they use to build their products are based on a shared philosophy of using only safe, natural ingredients. But they also use their clinical expertise to find ingredients that work to keep skin and teeth healthy.

Who Are Dr. Brite Pure Pet Products Best Suited For?

Dr. Brite’s line of Pure Pet dental and coat care products is great for anyone concerned with the kinds of ingredients their dog may ingest or come into contact with.

Whether you’re worried about cancer and inflammation-causing chemicals or just have a pet that is super sensitive to toxins, you’ll love these products. They’re made with quality, highly-researched, non-toxic, natural ingredients that are safe for dogs, cats, and other pets.

    Product Quality

The background of the founders is apparent when you look at the high-quality and functional ingredients included in their Pure Pet Products.

Both the cleansing wipes and the dental products are free from gluten, sulfate, and fluoride. The products are also vegan and cruelty-free. And all are made in their US manufacturing facility in Orange County, California.

    Use and Ingredients

    The Pet Pure Cleansing Wipes

Dr. Brite’s Pet Pure Cleansing Wipes are an awesomely versatile way to keep your pet clean. These gentle wipes can be used to wipe down paws after a walk, clean away tear stains, clean ears, and more.

The natural ingredients are safe for even sensitive skin. And you don’t have to worry about your pet (I’m looking at you cats!) licking their fur after use. These wipes are completely non-toxic and made with many of the same ingestible ingredients used in the anti-plaque dental pen.

The wipes themselves are bamboo fiber and are soaked in a gentle cleansing solution.

    The Pet Pure Anti-Plaque Pen

Dr. Brite’s Pet Pure Anti-Plaque Pen is a genius solution to making pet dental care easier.

This unique product features silicon bristles that automatically fill with toothpaste gel when you turn the bottom of the pen. All you have to do is lift your pet’s lip and gently scrub each tooth, twisting out more tooth gel as needed.

It features many of the same gentle ingredients as the cleansing wipes. These non-toxic, natural ingredients are safe for dogs and cats and won’t cause problems if ingested.

The Pet Pure Oral Cleansing Spray

Dr. Brite’s Pet Pure Oral Cleansing Spray is an easy-to-use dental spray that helps fight bacteria and freshen breath. All you have to do is spritz your dog’s teeth with this product a few times per day to freshen their breath.

Rather than masking bad breath, it is made with ingredients that help flush away stinky buildup and odor-causing bacteria. Over time, this helps reduce bad breath. That means fresher puppy licks and less-smelly kitty kisses.

Like Dr. Brite’s other products, this one contains only safe, non-toxic, natural ingredients.

    The Recall History

According to the FDA, Dr. Brite has not experienced a product recall for any of their Pet Pure or human personal care products.

    In Summary

    • Safe & non-toxic

    • Easy to use

Reviewing the Most Popular Dr. Brite Pet Pure Products

Let’s take a look at three of the most popular Pet Pure dental and coat care products currently available from Dr. Brite.

    1. Pet Pure Cleansing Wipes

dr. brite pet pure cleansing wipes

These versatile pet cleansing wipes can be used on dogs and cats and are perfect for cleaning up paws, ears, bums, tails, and everywhere in between.

I find them to be especially useful for quick wipe-downs after walks. They’re also great to have on hand during travel.

Because these wipes contain only non-toxic, natural ingredients, you can feel confident using them even on sensitive pets. They’re gentle enough for use around the eyes and are even effective at keeping tear stains in check.

Each pack contains 54 wipes made of 100% bamboo. The cleansing solution contains vegan ingredients and has a mild, pleasant coconut scent.

The wipes leave a bit of an oily residue on the fur, and they’re also a bit hard to tear, which means you have to use the whole wipe, even for smaller jobs.

But it’s hard to beat the convenience of this product. Plus, I love the mild, pleasant coconut scent.

    Pros
    • All-natural, non-toxic

    • Alcohol-free

    • Pleasant coconut scent

    • Convenient, resealable packs

    Cons
    • Leaves fur a little oily

    • Hard to tear

    2. Pet Pure Anti-Plaque Pen

dr. brite pet pure anti-plaque pen

Dr. Brite’s Anti-Plaque Pen is a convenient way to brush your dog or cat’s teeth without the hassle of a toothbrush and toothpaste.

This ingenious little pen features silicone bristles that fill with cleansing gel when you twist the base of the pen.

The gel is made of all-natural, non-toxic ingredients that help dissolve plaque and kill odor-causing bacteria in the mouth. The unique pen shape and pointed application make it easier to target problem areas near the gums.

I’ve found that the all-in-one package makes brushing my pet’s teeth much faster and less of a struggle. The fact that the pen is small and comes with a cap makes it perfect for travel, as well.

    Pros
    • All-in-one toothpaste and brush

    • All-natural, non-toxic

    • Easy to use

    • Perfect for travel

    Cons
    • Hard to keep brush clean

    • Bristles are a bit soft

    3. Pet Pure Oral Cleansing Spray

dr. brite pet pure oral cleansing spray

For dogs and cats that suffer from bad breath, Dr. Brite’s Oral Cleansing Spray is a convenient, effective solution.

This spray is made of non-toxic, natural ingredients. Unlike most breath spray products, it doesn’t work by masking bad breath. Instead, it contains natural antibacterials and antioxidants that help support oral health while breaking down plaque and fighting odor-causing bacteria.

The spray has a building action with a noticeable reduction in bad breath after just a few days of continuous use.

It’s easy to use and a great option for pets that won’t tolerate brushing. But do keep in mind, for best results you need to use this product multiple times a day, every day.

    Pros
    • Noticeable reduction in bad breath

    • Easy to use

    • All-natural, non-toxic

    Cons
    • Takes time to have an effect

Our Experience With Dr. Brite’s Pet Pure Products

I was very excited to put Dr. Brite’s Pet Pure products to use on my own pets, especially their oral care products.

Both my dogs are getting older and already have a history of poor dental health.

Papyrus is 14 and, as a Chihuahua, has never had great teeth. But Ragz, my 12-year-old Dalmatian mix is worse. We found out she has a genetic predisposition to periodontal disease after she had to have over half her teeth surgically removed five years ago.

Anything that can make their oral health care routine easier is worth the money in my book.

After receiving Dr. Brite’s Pet Pure Oral Cleansing Spray and Anti-Plaque Pen, I put both to use on my dogs immediately. I was also excited to put the Cleansing Wipes to the test and found them especially useful for my new kitten, Makoa.

papyrus and cleansing wipes from dr. brite

    The Anti-Plaque Pen

I decided to use the anti-plaque pen on Ragz only to avoid cross-contamination given how prone she is to oral bacterial overgrowth.

My initial impression of the pen was pure excitement. A brush and toothpaste in one!? Yes, please!

After about 20 turns of the end of the pen to deploy the gel the first time, I found the pen super easy to use.

The shape of the pen and bristles made it easy to scrub the gumline of every tooth. And not having to mess with a brush and separate tube of toothpaste took noticeable time off my nightly doggy oral care routine.

The bristles are softer than what we normally use. They appear to be made of silicone and are shorter and rounder than traditional toothbrush bristles. This makes it difficult to scrub away plaque with the same vigor I’m used to.

Still, after three weeks of using the pen in place of a traditional brush, Ragz’s teeth had no new tartar buildup. I think much of this success was due to dedicated daily use.

The product label recommends utilizing the pen 2 to 3 times per day. I’ll admit I wasn’t that thorough (and I don’t know many pet parents with that kind of extra time). But even using it once a day helped prevent tartar buildup and bad breath.

The only other concern I had was that the brush was difficult to keep clean. The label cautions against washing it with water, so I just wiped it with a paper towel after each use. Because Ragz’s teeth tend to bleed, this wasn’t optimal, but as long as I was thorough it seemed to be enough to keep things mostly clean.

Overall, I was very impressed with this product. On top of it being incredibly easy to use, it also appeared to be very effective at preventing new plaque from forming.

    dog sniffing anti-plaque pen

    The Oral Cleansing Spray

I used the oral cleansing spray on both of my dogs.

Like the Anti-Plaque Pen, the product label recommends you use it 2–3 times a day. On most days, I only had time to apply it once. But still, it provided a noticeable improvement to my dogs’ normally very stinky breath.

The spray itself does not have much of a smell beyond what I would describe as a mild “fresh coconut” scent. It did nothing to mask my dog’s stinky breath. Rather, after a few days of use, it simply reduced the stink.

This reduction in stinky breath was especially noticeable for Ragz. Normally, if she pants or yawns, you know it, even if you’re half a room away. But after starting this spray, her toxic-level stinky breath was reduced to typical—and very tolerable—standard dog breath levels.

Papyrus’ breath, which is not typically great, also improved with this product.

It was a little hard to spray onto Papyrus’ teeth, given his small mouth, but it was well worth the struggle. For Ragz, who has more of a normal-sized mouth, it was super easy to use and only took a few seconds to apply each day.

Given the ease of use and the results I saw, I will definitely be continuing to use Dr. Brite’s Oral Cleansing Spray for my dogs and highly recommend it to other pet owners.

oral cleansing spray used on dog's teeth

    The Cleansing Wipes

The last Dr. Brite Pet Pure product I tried was their Cleansing Wipes.

I used these to control Papyrus’ red tear stains that he gets under his eyes, and they worked surprisingly well.

Not only did they help remove the fresh discharge, but they actually lessened the appearance of the stained fur over time.

I also appreciated having these on hand for the occasional wipe-down after walks. But where they really came in handy was for use on my new kitten, Makoa.

I rescued this little kitty from the streets of Oahu, which are, sadly, overrun with feral and stray cats. He came into our home flea-ridden and very sick. Getting him better took a lot of medications, including multiple antibiotics which left him with some bad diarrhea.

Anyone who has litter box-trained a kitten can imagine how messy things can get when you add the runs to the mix. Luckily, I had Dr. Brite’s Cleansing Wipes on hand to clean things up!

Even with Makoa’s white fur, these wipes were able to get him looking and smelling as good as new after he inevitably stepped in and got poop all over himself.

The wipes did leave his fur feeling a little oily after I rubbed him down with them. But it was very nice to have natural, non-toxic wipes on hand that were gentle enough to use on such a young kitten. They were definitely worth the purchase.

    Conclusion

If natural, safe pet care products are important to you, I highly recommend looking into Dr. Brite. Their Pet Pure products are highly effective, easy to use, and well worth the money.

The Pet Pure Cleansing Wipes proved invaluable in helping keep my sick kitty clean. Meanwhile, their Anti-Plaque Pen and Oral Cleansing Spray helped shave minutes off my daily doggy dental routine, while reducing my dogs’ bad breath and preventing new plaque from forming.

Owala Pet Bowl Review 2023: Pros, Cons & Verdict

    About Owala

Owala is a water bottle company that set out to create the most functional, useful water bottles for everyday life. And since pets are a big part of most people’s everyday life, they also decided to create a pet bowl to join their line of products.

Like Owala’s water bottles, this bowl is simple yet impressively well-designed. The inside is stainless steel, which deters microbe growth while being very easy to clean. The exterior is powder coated for a pop of color that still allows the bowl to be durable and long-lasting.

But the real beauty of this product is the substantial rubber gasket on the base that keeps the bowl in place no matter how sloppy your pet gets.

All the attention to detail and quality materials means this bowl costs more than your typical pet bowl. So if you’re in the market for a cheap bowl you can hide in the cupboard after each meal, this may not be for you. But if you want a high-quality bowl that’s equally functional for food as it is for water and pretty enough to stay out when guests come over, the Owala Pet Bowl is what you’re looking for.

    PK paw divider

    The Owala Pet Bowl Reviewed

    owala pet bowl

    Quality

If you’ve used Owala water bottles, you know this company is all about producing quality products. And the same can be said about their pet bowl.

This product may have less going on with it than their other options (because, of course, dogs have no need for flip lids, straws, or hand grips) but it is still well-built and made with quality materials.

The entire bowl is constructed out of thick stainless steel. The top features a rounded edge that is easy to clean and has a nice aesthetic to it. The outside is powdered coated to add some color and to give it a more distinguished look.

Between the inside and outside, there appears to be a nice air gap, which is helpful for insulation if you’re using it as a water bowl. Will this bowl keep your pet’s water ice-cold if you place it outside in the sun? No, but it seems to help it stay cooler longer, at least.

The other thing that gapped construction does is give the bowl a more substantial feel to it. I imagine this adds to the durability and it definitely gives it a nicer look than what you get with single-layer steel bowls.

Unless you have a Rottweiler with a passion for chewing on metal, I would bet this bowl could easily last years if not decades.

    Options

The Owala Pet Bowl is available in two sizes and five colors.

I received the 3-cup (24-ounce) size. The company also sells a 6-cup (48-ounce) size, which is a bit larger in terms of floor space and much deeper.

The large bowl is available in five colors: gray, turquoise, white, black, and pink. The small is available in all the same colors except gray. Each features the Owala symbol in a complimentary or muted color.

People love colorful, fun items for their pets and Owala is known for providing colorful combinations in their water bottles, so I expect more colors and patterns will be available at some point.

The small size was great for my dogs, who max out at 30 pounds. I was able to use it for both food and water without issue.

The larger bowl seems to work well as a food bowl for large dogs, but some owners say it isn’t quite big enough to function as a water bowl. I don’t necessarily agree. Forty-eight ounces of water seems like a lot to me!

owala pet bowl and food storage

    Features

Aside from the quality build and the handful of customization options, there is one more major thing that sets this bowl apart. And that’s the rubber, non-slip base.

This simple addition really helps keep the bowl in place, whether your dog is frantically eating or splashing water all over your tile.

It’s a feature that isn’t overly noticeable from looking at the bowl, but it makes a big difference.

This rubber gasket is the same color as the Owala emblem on each bowl. On the turquoise bowl I got, the gasket is bright yellow, which I love. It’s more muted on the other options but still provides a little extra pizzazz.

    In Summary

    Pros
    • Stainless steel construction

    • Thick and durable

    • Non-slip base

    • 5 great colors

    • Easy to clean

    Cons

If you compare this bowl to the simple stainless steel bowls you can find at PetsMart or the feed store, it’s a little pricey. But, if you consider the quality, the insulated build, and added features, I believe it is fairly well-priced.

    FAQ

    Is this pet bowl durable?

From my experience, the Owala pet bowl is very durable. The double-sided stainless steel build and rounded design keep it from denting when dropped. And the rubber gasket on the bottom protects it from getting scratched up (while protecting your floors).

    What are the dimensions?

The small Owala pet bowl is 2¾ inches tall and 5¾ inches wide. The large bowl is 3½ inches tall and just over 7 inches wide.

Does the Owala pet bowl come with a warranty?

Like all Owala products, the pet bowl is covered under the company’s limited lifetime warranty. This protects against manufacturer defects, but will not cover the bowl if your Great Dane decides to use it as a chew toy.

Our Experience With the Owala Pet Bowl

I had the opportunity to use the Owala pet bowl with my dogs and got to try it out on my parents’ dogs.

The first users were Ragz, my 12-year-old Dalmatian mix, and Papyrus, my 14-year-old Chihuahua. Both of my dogs are pretty small. Ragz is only 30 pounds, though she is fairly tall, and Papyrus is 7 pounds.

For them, the small, 3-cup bowl worked perfectly. It provided more than enough room to feed them meals in. And was large enough to use as a water bowl.

And in both cases, it was super easy to clean.

Because I only bought one bowl, I ended up putting it to use as a water bowl once I was done testing it out. For this, it has worked exceptionally well. It is sturdy and the no-slip base keeps it from spilling.

And I only have to refill it once a day, despite the summer heat.

Just for fun, I also tried this out on my parents’ very large Labradors, Bo and Burley. These boys are both over 60 pounds and under 3-years-old.

Size-wise, the small bowl was just big enough to hold their meals. But, given the size of their muzzles, I’ll opt for the larger size when gifting them new bowls in the future.

For water, I may stand corrected. The large size would probably be too small for these big guys, given the mess they create at the water dish every time they drink.

If you have a big, messy drinker, the Owala bowls are probably not the best option for a water dish. They don’t have any features meant to reduce splashing. And even the big bowl probably won’t hold enough water to keep them hydrated for an entire day.

But for feeding large dogs and providing water or food to small dogs, I absolutely love this product. I could see the small size also working well for cats, guinea pigs, and other pets.

    Conclusion

After testing out the Owala Pet Bowl on my dogs, I would highly recommend it to pet owners everywhere.

The rounded design and stainless steel material make it easy to keep this bowl clean and make it more durable than most products. The customizable colors and eye for design mean you can leave this bowl out without it clashing with your decor. And the functional, non-slip base means your dog won’t move it around the house or scuff up your floors.

For small dogs and for cats, the small bowl works great as a food or water dish. For larger dogs, the large option is best used as only a food dish unless you happen to have a dainty drinker.

In either case, you won’t regret adding this cute and functional dish to your pet’s collection.
