Abandoned Dog Who Almost Got Hit By Oncoming Traffic Finds Forever Home

A dog that was abandoned two days before Thanksgiving in front of Norfolk’s Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and almost got hit by oncoming traffic finally finds her forever home.

On November 26, the animal shelter shared the heartbreaking moment a dog was abandoned by her owner, tied to a loose piece of gutter, ran into oncoming traffic, and almost got hit by cars.

“Today, our hearts are heavy as we share this disturbing sight,” Norfolk SPCA wrote in a Facebook post along with a CCTV footage of a woman parking in front of the shelter to abandon her dog.

The animal shelter explains, “A sweet little puppy was found abandoned and tied to a pole outside our facility while we were closed. Her owner abandoned her and tied her to a loose piece of a gutter at the front step.”

After being overcome by flight or fight, the dog broke free from the loose piece of gutter she was tied to, ran into oncoming traffic, and almost got hit by cars.

“Good Samaritans saved her life. This poor pup had no choice but to wait for someone to help, and we are so grateful that she was found safe,” Norfolk SPCA wrote.

Norfolk SPCA did everything they can to ensure that the dog received all the necessary care, attention, and love she needed.

“We believe every animal deserves a loving home, and we can’t help but feel the pain of how this little one was treated,” Norfolk SPCA wrote.

The story went viral, even reaching local television news. And right before Christmas, on December 11, the dog found her way to her forever home.

The dog’s new owner, Sharon Tomosovich calls it her ‘Christmas Miracle’. And talking to Wavy, she said, “I wasn’t actively looking, but I thought, one day the right dog will come along, and she just seemed like she was the right one.”

Tomosovich reveals that she saw the viral clip of the dog getting abandoned by her previous owner.

“It broke my heart to see how someone could do something like that to her, or any animal, that there are other options,” Tomosovich said. “And anyone that has a dog that they can’t keep, or can’t take care [of], just please — there are other options not to tie them to a gutter and walk away. She’s so lucky to be alive, and so many dogs aren’t.”

Wavy reveals that SPCA named the dog Grace, but in the spirit of Christmas, Tomosovich renamed her to Holly Grace.

“It seemed like an omen to me because I had just lost my dog of 13 years, and her name was Grace,” Tomosovich revealed.

Tomosovich reveals that Holly Grace laid down on her lap almost immediately. “And I just knew. I think we both knew that she’s where she needs to be, with me. And I’m able to be home with her now, and she’s lot lots of love, and lots of attention.”

Dog Left In An Animal Shelter’s Parking Lot Came With The Most Heart-wrenching Note

A dog was left in Arizona Humane Society’s parking lot with the most heart-wrenching note by his previous owners.

The Arizona Humane Society (AHS) revealed the dog, named Armando, along with the note he came with on their Facebook page.

The note read, “It is with heavy heart that we had to result to this but due to unforeseen circumstances we had no choice. This is Armando (Mando). He is four-years-old, Husky Labrodor Mix. He has had his shots but might need them soon. He’s very friendly with dogs and people. He is prone to ear infections. We pray he finds a good home. God bless.“

Fox 10 Phoenix reports that Armando was found by one staff member tied up in the shelter’s Sunnyslope campus parking lot.

Armando’s heart-wrenching story highlights the Maricopa County’s animal welfare crisis, which is at an all-time high, AHS reveals.

The animal shelter explains, “AHS cared for more than 22,000 sick, injured and abused pets in 2024, the most in a decade. With population growth, rising home prices, evictions and a shortage of affordable pet care, more pet owners in our community have been faced with the often gut-wrenching decision to rehome a pet.”

“Because shelters are full, healthy pets needing to be rehomed due to a change in housing or loss of a job have no place to go, which has led to an increase in pet abandonment,” AHS said.

True to his previous owners’ claims, Armando is healthy and has cleared all his medical checks and was recently treated for an ear infection.

Armando was immediately put up for adoption. And as of this article’s time of writing, it seems like Armando went to a good and loving home, like what his previous owners’ hoped for, just in time for Christmas, as his adoption profile is no longer available on AHS’ website.

The animal shelter also used this opportunity to urge potential pet owners to instead adopt from local shelters instead of purchasing a pet from a breeder or pet store.

“Shelters across the Valley are full of dogs and cats waiting for a second chance, including Armando,” AHS wrote.

Shelter Dog Gets The Best Christmas Gift — A Forever Home Ahead Of The Holidays

A shelter dog who has spent three years at the Cheltenham Animal Shelter gets the best Christmas gift ever — getting adopted and spending the holiday season with his forever family.

“We have THE BEST news to share with you this Christmas!” The UK-based animal shelter shared on Friday, December 20 on their Facebook page.

The animal shelter also shared how the dog, an Akita named Kato, first came to their shelter in 2021.

Kato came to their shelter with his best friend, Poppy, in April 2021 after their owner passed away.

“Despite our best efforts, we just could not find anyone willing to take on these two large dogs, who were the best of friends, and time marched on with them living together in one of our kennels,” Cheltenham Animal Shelter shares.

While no adopter were willing to take on these two dogs, Kato and Poppy seemed happy to be together in the shelter.

However, in July 2023, Kato’s best friend, Poppy, passed away, which left Kato alone and depressed.

“Our staff rallied round, and Kato became a regular fixture in our offices during the day, but at night we could tell he missed his friend greatly.“

The animal shelter hoped that since Kato is now by himself, it’ll be easier to get him adopted. “But sadly this was not to be, Kato settled in his new routine and bonded even more with our team,” the animal shelter shared.

Wanting Kato to finally go to his forever home, the animal shelter worked with other charities to spread the word about Kato and promoted him on the animal shelter’s social media, newsletters, and in local press.

“Then one day in October 2024 a lovely couple called David and Jackie got in touch having recently lost their beloved Siberian husky, Shadow,” Cheltenham Animal Shelter explains. “They had seen our appeals to find a home for Kato and were keen to see if they could meet him.”

Describing the couple and Kato’s first meeting as something “clearly meant to be”, the animal shelter reveals that the couple wasn’t expecting too much, but Kato ran over to them and introduced himself.

Over the next couple of weeks, the couple met with Kato at the shelter on several occasions before the couple had Kato visit their home.

“It is safe to say that Kato approved of his new surroundings, immediately taking over the chair that Shadow once slept in.”

The Cheltenham Animal Shelter reveals that Kato’s wishes finally came true, like Christmas magic, and recently went home to Jackie and David, ready to spend his first ever Christmas in a loving, forever home for the first time in three years.

“He recently went to his forever home, in a lovely rural village, with endless walks and fields to explore. His new family dote on him and are chuffed to bits that they were able to offer him a lovely new home where he will spend Christmas this year,” the animal shelter wrote.
