@savethedogs Rex has been here for three long years 😔 It was heartbreaking to see him..his spirit seems worn down, as if he’s given up hope of ever having a loving home. Hes been described as unpredictable but when I reached out for the first time, he gently smelled my hand. One of the volunteers mentioned that his face is starting to turn grey; he might be around 8 or 9 years old now. All he really needs is a patient, understanding owner who can offer him a stable, loving home for his remaining years. Love and patience is all this dog needs. UPDATE: Just posted an update video on Rex!! #do-glover #rescuedog #animallover #shelterdog ♬ take a moment to breathe. – normal the kid

“Thank you to everybody who commented and liked and shared Rex’s post.. its the ONLY way that Rex and his mama were able to meet and fulfill their inevitable fate.

@savethedogs revealed, “He had been at the rescue for almost 3 years! Not one single application! We posted him on Sunday and by Friday he was wrapped up in a blanket on his new couch with his new mama.

Rex was Vanderpump Dogs’ longest staying resident. In a video that highlights Rex in December 2023, the animal rescue revealed that they rescued the pooch from a high-kill shelter in January 2022.

The animal rescue reveals that Rex has never been great at first impressions because he growls and barks at strangers.

“He’s very fearful of people due to past abuse, but he longs for understanding, patience and the opportunity to rebuild his trust,” the rescue explains.

Today, Rex’s new mom reveals that the pooch is home, and will spend the next bit of his life decompressing. He now has his own space, and enjoys chilling in his own heated blanket.

‘Confused And Scared’: 13-Year-Old Dog Gets Surrendered By Family At The Shelter

While one family chooses to muzzle their dog around their kid instead of rehoming them, another family dumps their senior dog at a shelter.

An animal rescuer from South Florida shares the heartbreaking story of a senior dog who got dumped by his family of 13 years.

Dali, or @_thatdoggirl_, on TikTok shared Ammo’s story in a video that now has almost 2 million views and 230,000 likes.

Dali reveals that Ammo has lived with his family for 13 years. And they just dumped him at the shelter because the family’s baby “stepped on his tail and he bit the baby”.

The animal rescuer further reveals that when his family left, the pooch kept on crying and crying at the door and that he looked so confused and scared.

In the video shared by Dali, you can see the dog looking visibly sad even when he is being pet and stroked.

“Please help him find a forever home. He’s a good boy,” Dali wrote in the video’s caption.

@_thatdoggirl_ So incredibly unfair. He cried and cried at the door when they left. 💔 #Rescuedog #Adopt #Seniordog @Saving Sage Animal Rescue ♬ What Was I Made For – Andrea Vanzo

TikTok users were devasted to hear about Ammo’s situation and were furious at the irresponsibility of the pooch’s previous family.

One TikTok user wrote, “To have him for 13 years and then dump him off at the shelter because THEY couldn’t watch their child and protect their senior dog? people are awful. I hope he finds the love he deserves.”

“No pup should have to live out their senior days at a shelter,” another wrote.

Others were also sharing their experiences about their dogs biting their children but still taking responsibility of the situations because pets are family too.

“This happened to my toddler and took him to the hospital, got a washout done of the bite, went home and kept a better eye on them both so it wouldn’t happen again! it’s called being responsible,” one user shared.

Another TikTok user wrote, “My fur baby bit my son’s face( my son is a bit naughty) but it never came into my mind to surrender or abandon dog. They’re family not just a pet. How cruel are they after spending 13 years with them.”

Ammo is currently at a no-kill shelter called Saving Sage Animal Rescue and is still waiting for a loving home where he could spend his days being loved and cared for.

Shelter Dog Who Went Viral For Sadly Looking At Puppies Get Adopted Gets Her Happily Ever After

A shelter dog from the Humane Society of Broward County who went viral for sadly looking at puppies get adopted finally finds her forever home.

On October 19, the animal shelter posted the heart wrenching moment Sade, a two-year-old Staffy, looks at two puppies getting picked up in the kennel next to her with a sad and longing look in her eyes.

The video had closed captions that further broke hearts and read, “Watching all the puppies get adopted… While you spend another night in the shelter… dreaming of a home.”

The video, which has garnered over 260,000 reaction on Facebook, has gone viral and has broken the hearts of many.

After Sade’s video went viral, the Humane Society of Broward County happily shared on October 22 that the sweet girl finally got her well-deserved happily ever after.

“This sweet girl, who won over the hearts of so many online, has found her forever home,” the animal shelter excitedly shared.

The animal shelter shared that Sade’s journey to a loving, forever home started with their “Reading Buddies” program, where children aged 6 to 16 can sit outside the cages of shelter animals, read to them, and feed them some treats.

During this program, Sade had two kids read to her, and that’s when she met her newest best friends and forever family rolled into one.

Along with this was the thousands of views, likes, and comments that everyone has given Sade for her videos.

The animal shelter shared that the sweet girl was able to settle in almost immediately in her new home.

“She can finally rest, knowing she’s home,” the Humane Society of Broward County wrote.

Earlier in October, the animal shelter featured Sade and shared her story in a Facebook reel. They wrote, “This dear girl was found as a stray and was just skin and bones at the time.”

The people who found her wanted to keep her, but couldn’t. “They knew they traveled too much to have a dog, so they brought her to us,” the Humane Society of Broward County shares.

The animal shelter described the two-year-old Sade as a “sweetheart”. They revealed, “She loves walks, people, attention, cuddles and being right with you.

“Sade is good with kids and good with cats, but unknown with dogs. Please take it slow with Sade, as she is scared of raised voices.”

Sadly, the heartbreaking moment that Sade experienced is the reality for thousands of adult, shelter dogs getting overlooked for puppies.

And while Sade got her forever home, the Humane Society of Broward County still has many wonderful pets waiting for their happily ever after.
