Loyal Dog In China Spent Two Years Guarding Owner’s Grave, Finds Love And Hope Again

A sick dog in China, the definition of “loyalty”, was found guarding her owner’s grave for two years before being rescued and taken care of by his new owner.

The South China Morning Post reported that a Chinese influencer and an owner of a stray dog relief center in eastern China’s Jiangxi province rescued the loyal yet sick dog.

The influencer, @ganpojiege on Chinese social media platform Douyin, posted a video of the loyal dog’s story on November 05. The video has since gone viral, garnering 85,000 likes and thousands of comments.

The Chinese influencer first heard of the dog, who he later named Zhongbao (“Loyal Baby”), in 2022 from locals. He found her at the cemetery with a crippled leg and severe skin issues.

The locals then told @ganpojiege that Zhongbao has been guarding her owner’s grave after she passed away.

For Zhongbao, her owner’s grave in the cemetery is her home, and she only leaves the grave to go to the village to find food.

Some have tried to adopt her, but to no avail, Zhongbao kept escaping and going back to her owner’s grave, so people just gave up any attempt of adopting her.

But in a touching and heartwarming move before rescuing Zhongbao, the influencer made a promise at the previous owner’s gravesite that he will take care of the pooch, but will often bring her back to visit the grave.

The influencer patiently helped Zhongbao heal from her skin disease, which took about four months to completely heal.

Now, Zhongbao has a long, healthy coat and has been living with hundreds of other dogs that the influencer has rescued.

And staying true to his promise, @ganpojiege often brought the pooch back to her owner’s grave to visit her.

The influencer has likened the pooch’s loyalty to her previous owner to Hachiko, the famous Japanese dog who waited for his late owner at the Shibuya Station for 10 years.

Thus, touching the hearts of many Chinese online users.

One user wrote, “It is nice that Zhongbao met a kind-hearted man who continued looking after her on behalf of her previous owner.”

“Sometimes dogs are more loyal than humans,” another wrote.

Dog Who Has Been At The Shelter For 472 Days Finds Forever Home During Adoption Event

An animal shelter in Virginia shares the good news that one of their shelter dogs who has spent 472 days at the shelter has finally found her forever home.

The Angels of Assisi shared the news on Wednesday, November 27. They wrote on a Facebook post, “Finally, during our Pet Expo Adopt-A-Thon last Saturday, RoRo met her human.”

Angels of Assisi shares that Roro was brought into their shelter after her family suffered a loss which caused them to move and they could no longer take care of the pooch.

Life was tough for Roro, because on top of being surrendered by her family, she also had some medical issues.

“On top of that, RoRo needed to have surgery to remove a cancerous mass and has severe allergies, which caused her to have some hearing loss, and need to be managed daily.”

“All 472 of those shelter days, RoRo has been a happy, playful and loving dog, with our kennel staff often going into her space on their breaks to spend extra time with her,” Angels of Assisi shares.

And while there weren’t many potential adopters lining up for Roro, she had an “Angel Ambassador”, someone who takes her for weekly outings to help keep her spirits up despite the shelter life and give her some extra loving.

And on Saturday, November 23, Roro finally met her forever home. “Kathy fell in love immediately and we know RoRo’s feelings were mutual,” the animal shelter shared.

Angels of Assisi also reveals that Roro has quickly settled into her new mom’s home and giant yard!

The animal shelter said they are very excited for this next chapter in Roro’s life and said, “Kathy says RoRo is in fact the one who rescued her, and she’s looking forward to growing together in the years to come.”

“Animals like RoRo are why we do what we do,” Angels of Assisi wrote.

Currently, the Angels of Assisi is offering special holiday weekend discounts on their adoption fees from November 30 to December 29, every Saturday & Sunday.

The adoption fees for adult cats and dogs will be $25, $75 for kittens, and $200 for puppies. So, if you’re looking for a sign to adopt, this is it!

The discounts are the animal shelter’s way of ensuring they can get as many of their shelter animals into a warm, loving home just in time for the holidays.

‘Never Without His Squishy’: Abandoned Dog Found With Nothing But His Stuffed Toy Looking For Forever Home

A sweet Pitbull mix is going viral on TikTok and breaking thousands of hearts after he was found, abandoned by his owners, with nothing but his stuffed dog toy with him.

The abandoned pooch, later named Squishy by the animal shelter that took him, was first discovered by TikTok user @devil_nyxx. The user then uploaded a video of Squishy on Friday, November 08.

“Found this sweet boy abandoned outside my house with his stuffy, no tag, no collar, nothing,” TikTok user @devil_nyxx wrote in the caption.

In the video, Squishy can be seen reluctantly walking towards the TikTok user, with a stuffed toy in his mouth while wagging his tail.

“He was shy at first but slowly walked up and laid on me,” Nyxx wrote. “It shows he once had a home, this is cruel, my heart aches for him.”

The video uploaded was almost 6-minute long, and by the 2-minute mark, Squishy finally approached Nyxx – enjoying the pets and laying his head on her lap, without releasing the stuffed toy in his mouth.

TikTok users were devastated with the situation Squishy was put through. But some were questioning Nyxx if the dog was truly abandoned because he looked clean and healthy.

One user wrote, “His stuffy looks clean! Why are you assuming he’s abandoned? Maybe he was trying to go home.”

However, another TikTok user pointed out how the dog kept on coming back in a certain spot. They explained, “He was not wanting to leave that spot he kept going back, which tells me he was dumped there and didn’t want to leave because he is waiting for his humans to come back.”

Nyxx later reveals that after giving Squishy water and food, they brought him to the Pet Circle Waco.

In a Facebook post, Pet Circle Waco wrote, “Never without his squishy!” with photos of Squishy and his stuffed dog toy and other toys.

The animal shelter reveals that the pooch is bonded with the stuffed dog toy and that “He loves to play with all kinds of toys and loves good pets. He is very sweet and will make your heart melt!”

Furthermore, according to the animal shelter’s website, Squishy is a two-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix and he was brought to the shelter on November 08.

Squishy is currently in a foster home and lives with another TikTok user, @brooke.reese, who stitched Nyxx’s video of Squishy.

In the video uploaded by Brooke, Squishy can be seen taking his stuffed dog toy from her while she says “Oh my god! You’re famous!”

Squishy is currently up for adoption. If you are interested to meet him, and possibly adopt him, you can contact Pet Circle Waco.
